A new event showcasing gardens across Wellington and Little Wenlock is taking place this weekend.

Wellington Open Gardens is being held from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July and will feature 17 gardens across Wellington and Little Wenlock.

The event is in aid of Community Resource and has been planned in partnership with Love Wellington, which promotes and celebrates the town.

There is a range of private gardens taking part plus local attractions the National Trust’s Sunnycroft, which is giving exclusive access to Open Gardens ticket holders for the weekend, and the kitchen garden at the Wellington Orbit.

Stacey Teece, Fundraising Manager at Community Resource, said: “There are so many characterful gardens hidden around Wellington and Little Wenlock that have beautiful features such as wildlife areas, exotic plants and breath-taking views. “Whether you’re a passionate gardener, are looking for some inspiration for your own outside space or just fancy a local day out, these gardens have something for everyone to enjoy!”

Tickets and trail maps are available from the Eventbrite page – https://wellingtonopengardens.eventbrite.co.uk

They can also be purchased from the Wellington Orbit between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 2 July and from the garden locations (cash only). Plants and cakes will also be available to buy at some locations.

The event is being sponsored by lawn treatment service Greenthumb.
