Achievements celebrated at AGM

The beautiful surroundings of the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, played host to our AGM this year.

Members, supporters, volunteers, trustees and staff came together to celebrate the organisation’s achievements over the last year and hear from keynote speaker, Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire and Shropshire RCC patron, Anna Turner.

A presentation of grants was made from the Shropshire Community Fund, with village halls receiving help including updating a kitchen, replacing a cooker and installing new equipment – all for the benefit of the communities who use the spaces.

Three Shropshire RCC volunteers were awarded with a hotel break in recognition of the support they give the organisation. Room to Reward is a charity which partners with hotel chains across the country to give out empty hotel rooms to volunteers in recognition of their hard work. Sara Cornwall, Sylvia Short and Anne Piper were selected at random out of all of Shropshire RCC’s hardworking volunteers.

Finally, Julia Baron was honoured for 20 years’ service as CEO of Shropshire RCC by Chair Hugh Strickland, and presented with gifts from staff and trustees.
