Community and Support
We offer local charities, community groups and organisations practical guidance on applications to external funders and assist you in exploring new funding opportunities. The team can provide advice and training on governance and running your charity, community group or organisation with confidence.
Alongside this we support rural communities through our Oil Buying Club, which helps households access more competitive heating prices and keep energy costs down.
The team is LIQA accredited, providing reassurance that you can reply on trusted expertise, practical solutions and strong advocacy. It recognises our experience and our commitment to offering high-quality support to Shropshire’s voluntary and community sector.
Community Energy Groups
Use heating oil? Save money, time and stress – join one of our community energy groups.
Join your local community energy group and benefit from the group’s combined buying power to get a better price for your heating oil.
Group membership is £27 per year for residential customers and £36 per year for community buildings. All of which helps cover our costs of running the club.
Members can also get support with ordering from local volunteer coordinators. Get in touch with us to find out if you have a coordinator in your area.

Rural Housing Enabler Programme
What is a Rural Housing Enabler?
Rural communities face unique challenges when it comes to housing, making initiatives like the Rural Housing Enabler Programme essential. Our Rural Housing Enabler, works directly with parishes of less than 3,000 residents to identify their housing needs and ensure they have a voice in any development progression. Craig’s approach is rooted in partnership and participation, ensuring that communities are not just beneficiaries but active participants in shaping their future. This is community-led housing; local housing for local people.
